정보기술의 발달로 이용자들은 아키비스트의 개입 없이 자유롭게 기록을 검색할 수 있게 되었지만, 기존의 기록물 검색 시스템은 이용자의 의도를 파악하지 못하는 단편적인 결과를 제공하고 있다. 이런 문제를 극복하기 위해 시맨틱 웹 기술이 발전하고 있으며, ICA에서는 이를 반영하여 새로운 기록물 기술 표준인 RIC(Record In Context)을 개발하고 있다. RIC의 개념모델과 온톨로지는 시맨틱 검색을 구현하는 기반이 되기 때문에, 이것이 실제로 어떻게 이용자들에게 서비스될 수 있을지 고민해볼 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 온톨로지를 기반으로 하는 기록물 검색 시스템이 어떤 인터페이스를 통해 구현될 수 있을지 제안해보았다. 시맨틱 웹 기술을 기반으로 한 검색 시스템의 사례 3가지를 선정해 이용자들의 인터뷰를 통한 사용경험 평가를 진행하였고, 여기에서 얻은 시사점을 기반으로 하여 기록물 검색 시스템의 인터페이스를 4가지 측면으로 구성하여 제안하였다.
Abstract
With the development of information technology, users can freely search records and archives without the involvement of archivists. However, existing records retrieval systems show only partial search results, which do not consider the users’ intention. To overcome this problem, semantic web technology is being developed, and the International Council on Archives (ICA) is working to develop RIC (Records In Context), a new archival description standard, which reflects the trend. The conceptual model for archival description and its ontology of RIC are the basis for implementing semantic-based retrieval. In other words, it is necessary to consider the viewpoint of the users on how the records retrieval based on meaning should be designed and provided. Therefore, this study selected three cases of systems, which are built as semantic web technology, and conducted interviews of the users for the evaluation of the systems based on user experience. This study proposes the kind of interface that can be implemented for the ontology-based record retrieval system.

최근 이용자 중심 서비스의 중요성에 대한 인식이 증가함에 따라 검색의 효율성을 향상시킬 수 있는 검색도구에 대한 연구들이 많이 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 검색의 효율성 향상을 위한 차세대 검색도구에서 패싯의 중요성을 감안하고, 특히 대통령중심제인 우리나라에서 대통령 기록의 중요성 측면에서 검색도구의 고도화가 필수 불가결하다는 판단 하에, 대통령기록을 사례로 다양한 정보원을 분석하여, 대통령기록의 검색시스템에 적용 가능한 다양한 패싯 요소들을 도출해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 미국, 영국, 호주의 국가 기록관(National Archives)과 국가별 개별 대통령(수상) 기록관의 웹사이트를 살펴보고, 그 검색 옵션을 분석하였으며, 대통령기록 건명의 형태소 분석 결과와, 대통령기록관 이용자의 검색용어 및 정보공개청구 용어, 대통령기록관 포털의 검색 옵션 및 기록 기술과 메타데이터 등의 요소를 종합 분석하고 매핑하여 대통령기록의 특성에 기반한 패싯 요소를 도출하였다. 특히 본 연구의 의의는 대통령기록을 사례로 검색도구의 주요 요소로서의 다양한 패싯의 개발에 관한 방법론을 제시하고자 한 것이다.
Abstract
As the recognition of the importance of user-oriented services is increasing, there has been a heightened attention for finding aids that could improve the effectiveness of searching. This study tried to draw various facet elements that can be applied to the presidential records retrieval system using presidential records as cases in analyzing various resources, considering the importance of facets in finding aids for the improvement of effectiveness in searching in the future and the importance of presidential records in Korea. In drawing facet elements based on the characteristics of presidential records, the websites of the National Archives (NARA) and Presidential (Prime Ministers’) Archives as well as their search options were examined as cases. In addition, the morpheme of each title of presidential records were analyzed, as well as the terms entered by the users of the Presidential Archives Portal of Korea, the terms used in the request for information disclosure toward the Presidential Archives in Korea, the search options of the Presidential Archives Portal, and the elements of the description and metadata standards. The significance of this study lies on suggesting the methodology of developing various facets as main elements in finding aids using the presidential records as cases.

이 논문에서는 대학기록관에서 사용되는 용어들을 통제하여 검색 효율성을 제고할 수 있는 시소러스 구축을 위한 지침을 개발하고 적용하는 과정에서 도출된 다양한 상황과 그에 대응하는 방안들을 제시하였다. 개발 과정에서 고려된 중요한 이슈 및 적용 방안은 다음과 같다. 대학 기록관 기록물 정리과정에서 도출된 용어들은 고유명사가 많아 시소러스는 전거파일 기능을 동시에 하도록 개발되어야 했다. 대학의 공식문서에 자주 나타나는 용어를 우선어로 제시하였다. 또한 포함될 인명의 범위는 주요 보직자 및 주제가 된 개인들로 하되, 작성자 및 기증자들의 필드 통합 검색이 가능하면 지나친 범주의 포함은 불필요했다.
Abstract
Some issues and solutions considered for the various situations that we faced in the process of developing guidelines of thesaurus construction are described in this paper. There were many proper names and proper nouns among the terms considered in the process. The thesaurus needed to include a function of an authority file. Preferred terms were selected based on what the university's official records would use. The scope of the proper names for inclusion was the people who held official positions in the university and the people who were the subject of the materials. However, when the system allows synthesized retrieval of the field of creator and donor, inclusion of too many names were considered unnecessary.
