초록

디지털 환경에서 시맨틱 웹과 온톨로지를 도입한 기록의 맥락적 기술에 관한 관심이 높아지고 있다. ICA EGAD는 2019년 12월 Records in Contexts-Ontology(RiC-O) v0.1을 공개하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 RiC-O v0.1의 특징을 분석하고, 프로테제를 활용해 사례에 적용하여 기대효과와 고려사항을 검토하는 것이다. 연구결과, RiC-O에는 98개의 클래스, 60개의 데이터 프로퍼티, 389개의 오브젝트 프로퍼티가 정의되었고, 특히 RiC-CM v0.2(프리뷰)와의 비교결과, RiC-O에는 10개의 클래스, 18개의 데이터 프로퍼티, 249개의 오브젝트 프로퍼티가 새롭게 정의되었다. 또한 RiC-O는 RiC-CM의 개체, 속성, 관계를 모두 수용하되, 개체, 속성, 관계는 RiC-O의 관점에서 세분되거나 재편되었다. 사례적용 결과, RiC-O의 이점은 기록 간 맥락적 선후 관계의 표현이 가능하고, 행위자 속성을 자세하게 기술할 수 있으며, 사본에 대한 기술이 용이하고, 다양한 형태의 기록물에 적용할 수 있다는 점이다. 향후 RiC-O 적용 시 고려사항은 여러 예시와 상세한 매뉴얼이 제공되어야 하며, 기록에 대한 정확한 분석과 RiC-O 구성요소 간 관계성에 대한 정리 및 충실한 메타데이터의 기술이 선행되어야 한다.

Abstract

A rising expectation is seen in the description of archives contexts in a digital environment. The International Council on Archives Expert Group on Archival Description (ICA EGAD) released Records in Contexts-Ontology (RiC-O) v0.1 in December 2019. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of RiC-O and identify its benefits and considerations. As a result, RiC-O consists of 98 classes, 60 datatype properties, and 389 object properties, allowing all entities, attributes, and relations in the Records in Contexts-Conceptual Model (RiC-CM) v0.2 (preview) to define them in more detail. According to the case application result, RiC-O had the advantage of expressing predecessor relations between records and describing the agent in detail. In addition, it was possible to describe the “instantiation.” For the active use of RiC-O, several examples and detailed manuals must be provided in the next version to be developed, and prioritizing the accurate analysis of records, arrangement of relations between RiC-O components, and description of faithful metadata is indispensable.
