지난 몇 년 사이에 전자문화, 전자정부, 전자학습 및 전자 비즈니스의 디지털 아카이브즈들은 세계적으로 순조롭게 성장해 왔다. 우리가 이 아카이브즈들을 구축하고 관리하기 위해 상당한 시간과 노력을 투자해온 한편, 이 처리에 의해서 생산된 디지털 레코드들을, 미래의 기술로도 접근할 수 있게 하고, 사람들로 하여금 그것이 확실하고 신뢰할 수 있는 것인지 결정할 수 있게 하면서, 정보 기술의 여러 세대 전체에서 모두 이용할 수 있게 하는 능력은 갖지 못한다. 이것은 아직 솔루션이 개발되지 않은 심각한 문제이다. 이 논문은 디지털 아카이브즈와 보존이 성공하기 위한 실용적 기술에 대하여 논하고, 이 중요한 문제를 해결하기 위해 정보의 생명주기의 일반적 구조를 기술하여, 정량적 방법과 증진되는 방식으로 분석되고 평가될 수 있는, 디지털 레코드들을 보존하기 위한 타당한 방법을 발견할 수 있도록 한다.
Abstract
The digital archives of E-culture, E-government, E-learning, and E-business have grown by leaps and bounds worldwide during the last several years. While we have invested significant time and effort to create and maintain those archives, we do not have the ability to make digital records generated by the processes all available across generations of information technology, making it accessible with future technology and enabling people to determine whether it is authentic and reliable. This is a very serious problem for which no solutions have been devised yet. This paper discusses practical technologies for digital archives and preservation to succeed, and describes a general framework of the life cycle of information to address this important problem so that we may find reasonable ways to preserve digital records that can be analyzed and evaluated in quantitative measures and incremental manners.

대중 매체의 보도는 보도 대상에 대한 사회의 인식을 반영하는 동시에, 그 보도 대상에 대한 공공의 이미지에 영향을 끼친다. 이는 아카이브 관련 직업군, 기관, 장서에 대해서도 적용된다. 이 연구에서는 아카이브에 대한 공공의 이미지를 파악하기 위하여 2003-2004년간의 국내 주요 일간 신문 보도 내용을 수집하여 그 결과를 기록관리 문화, 기록물의 가치, 기업 및 병원기록관리, 정부기록관리, 아키비스트 직종의 다섯 범주로 나누어 각 범주에 해당하는 기사 내용을 분석하고, 총체적인 보도 유형과 동향을 파악하였다. 그 결과 우리나라에서는 아카이브에 대한 공공 이미지가 아직 충분히 형성되지 않은 상태이며, 단편적인 관심의 대상으로 다루어지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 아키비스트의 사기 진작과 기록관리 정착을 위하여 기록관리에 대한 공공의 이미지를 증진하여야 하며, 이를 위해 아카이브와 아키비스트의 홍보 활동이 더욱 적극적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Public image on the Archives is investigated through media coverage of archival profession, institutions and collections in Korea between 2003 and 2004 in this research. News stories under the subject of archives are collected and categorized into archival culture, value of records, business archives, government records and civil rights movement, and archivists and archival advocacy. The patterns of the media coverage are discovered and analyzed from various viewpoints. As a result, ongoing proactive public relations with mass media are necessary in order to enhance currently low public image of archives of Korea.

문서관리와 전자문서관리가 1990년대를 전후하여 변화 발전해 온 배경과 현재의 경향을 살펴보고, 전자문서관리 소프트웨어 디자인에 관련된 아카이브적인 기능과 업계의 기술표준, 현재 나와 있는 소프트웨어 등을 고찰함으로 전자문서관리의 현단계와 앞으로의 개발방향을 제시한다.
Abstract
This paper aims to introduce the background history and development of records management in brief prior to and after the 1990s based on the records life cycle. This paper also explains the development of electronic document imaging systems and shifts to ERM systemsin the 1990s. The paper explains functional requirements in archival management and software application standards suggested by the industry of electronic records management. The paper concludes with providing problems and issues associated with software design in electronic records management for further development.
