초록
최근 전자기록의 등장과 포스트모더니즘의 확산은 기록학계에 기술적, 이론적 반향을 일으켰다. 이는 기록학 패러다임의 다원화와 커뮤니티 아카이브의 확산으로 이어지며 서구 기록학 전반에 걸쳐 지대한 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 추세는 기록을 효율적 관리 대상으로, 기록관리의 기술적 문제를 강조하던 과거의 경향에서 벗어나, 기록과 기록관리의 의미를 사회적 산물로 이해할 것을 요구했다. 기록학 내부에서 행해진 이러한 패러다임의 변화는 기록의 범주를 광범위하게 확장시키고 다원화된 새로운 기록 전통을 정립해 나가고자 했다. 현재의 변화는 표면적이고 일시적인 기술적 문제에 한정된 것이 아닌 기록의 본질에 대한 심층적인 고찰의 결과물이라 할 수 있는데, 본고는 북미 기록학계가 추구하는 변화에 대해 문헌정보학과 역사학의 변화의 맥락 속에서 그 특징을 소개하고자 한다.
Abstract
In this article, the author introduces the paradigm shift in archival studies that occurs in north America. Although the dominant paradigm in the archival studies-the positivism paradigm-greatly contributed to build modern archives in Europe and north America, during last decades, new ideas and technologies led the archival communities to re-identify their social roles and powers and to adopt new values of archives and archivist. This essay argues that this changes is essential to our future and we understand the nature of the changes from the broader interdisciplinary perspective of archives studies, information studies, and history.

이 논문의 목적은 지역 내 기록유산기관들의 협력을 기반으로 하는 Cox의 로컬리티 기록화 모형의 한계를 극복하고 디지털 환경에 맞는 새로운 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국내외에서 이루어지고 있는 로컬리티 기록화와 관련한 접근방법을 4가지로 유형화하여 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 특히 공간과 장소를 중심축으로 하는 기록화의 범주를 도출하고 참여와 협력을 통하여 로컬리티가 담긴 기록을 생산․수집할 수 있는 지속가능한 아카이브를 구축하기 위한 방향을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to suggest new methodologies for documenting locality in digital environment, reformulation the Cox's documentation model focused on cooperative acquisition of documentary heritage institutions. This study defines the concepts of locality, space and place, relation of collective memory to archives, and analyzes the four approaches of documentation comparatively. Based on these analyses, it suggests the categories of documenting locality, and the directions of archive portal design for collective memory of locality.
